Philippine Moo Duk Kwan Soo Bahk Do Strong at 50



          Standing by its foundation of discipline, dedication and determination, the Philippine Moo Duk Kwan Soo Bahk Do, Inc. celebrates 50 years of glorious existence in the country. The organization is all-in to celebrate a 3-day celebration with its theme “Discipline, Humility and Passion for Excellence” this November 28-30, 2015 respectively.

          Different practicing clubs from around the Philippines will come together and welcome the celebration with a symbolic releasing of balloons & motorcade in the morning of the 28th, followed by the 46th National Moo Duk Kwan Soo Bahk Do Gup Classing Championship Tournament at NCCC Mall of Davao Activity Area. This year’s tournament is made special with a Blackbelt full-contact competition as one of the highlights of the event. In the morning of November 29, a Eucharistic celebration will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Parish and followed by the Martial Art Expo and Exhibit which is open to all members and friends of Moo Duk Kwan with a free admission at NCCC Kadayawan Hall.  In the evening of the same day is the showcase of skills and abilities during the Talent Night at UM Mini Auditorium, Matina Campus. The celebration culminates on the evening of the 30th with the Golden Anniversary Grand Night at the Grand Men Seng Hotel, Davao City.

      The celebration will be graced by the founder himself, Sa Bom Nim Casimiro A. Grandeza from Bacolod City who have been the forbearer of White Kimono Club and the person responsible for bringing Moo Duk Kwan in the Philippines, together with the Grandeza’s who continued and made it alive throughout the years and all the active and inactive blackbelts, members, parents and friends of the organization.

31st Summer League: A Blast






          The Philippine Moo Duk Kwan Soo Bahk Do Inc. in partnership with the NCCC Mall Davao conducted the 31st Summer League Moo Duk Kwan Soo Bahk Do Gup Classing Championship Tournament at Entertainment Center, NCCC Mall, Mc Arthur Highway, Matina Davao City last May 24, 2015. 

           Summer League is a tournament held yearly for the practitioners of the Korean martial art, Moo Duk Kwan. The annual competition aims to turn every summer into a platform where practitioners of all ages can train and compete in accordance to the values of the art. It annually celebrates the growing years of stronger relationship through the art and tradition that Moo Duk Kwan strives to maintain and preserve. 

            The participating clubs were Korean Martial Art Training Gym Inc. (General Santos City), Kangaroo (Mati City, Davao Oriental), Cotabato Moo Duk Kwan (Cotabato City), Diamond Impact (Kidapawan City), Timayod (Kidapawan City), Black Cat (Panabo City), Black Cat Fighters (Panabo City), Lions Moo Duk Kwan (Davao City), Valiant Lords (Davao City), Hedojar (Davao City) and Blue Warrior (Davao City) for a total of 162 participants. 

          Among the clubs who participated, Blue Warrior Club emerged as the champion with 25 gold, 1 silver, and 6 bronze medals followed by Cotabato Moo Duk Kwan with 7  gold, 9 silver, and 4 bronze. Black Cat Panabo City placed third with 6 gold, 4 silver,5 bronze.

NCCC Summer Kids Workshop 2015




           
         The Philippine Moo Duk Kwan Soo Bahk Do Inc. in partnership with the NCCC Mall Davao conducted a Summer Moo Duk Kwan (Martial Art) Workshop at 2nd Floor, near Food Cove, NCCC Mall, MC Arthur Highway, Matina, Davao City from May 18-23, 2015.  

          The participants were given the different aspects taught by Moo Duk Kwan to its practitioners. It is an introduction to the young ones aspiring to be a good and well-rounded martial artist someday.

2014 Leadership Training and Seminar Conducted


Our Future Leaders
The Philippine Moo Duk Kwan Soo Bahk Do Incorporated ends the year with the annual Leadership Training and Seminar with the theme, "Empowering Leaders for a Brighter Tomorrow."

This year's seminar lasted for four days, from December 26 to 29, 2014. The seminar's objective was to strengthen the loyalty and sincerity of the instructors and members of the organization. Enhancing the leadership skills, techniques and achieving unity were also the goals of the seminar.

Thirty Seven (37) participants from different clubs came and signed up for the four-day leadership training.

For the first day, all the participants had their orientation & took the Whitebelt and Orangebelt lessons with instructors Kyo Sa Angela Grandeza, Kyo Sa Leslie Morales, Kyo Sa Joyce Sabater and Kyo Sa Mikhail Ponce de Leon.

On the first night, Sa Bom Nim Herbert Jardinel lectured about the rules and safety precautions when handling guns and shooting. He also talked about the Tournament Gup Rules and Regulations to all the participants.




Greenbelt lessons were taken on the second day with the instructors Kyo Sa Joy Mae Dalumpines, Kyo Sa Elizar Buog and Kyo Sa Danijoy Romero.





The participants were divided into three teams, with their respective senior or leader. This gives them the opportunity to meet other members from different clubs. They were also given instruction to create a fun and humble cheer for their team.

On the afternoon of the second day, Sa Bom Nim Edgardo Grandeza led the breaking session. The participants used techniques to break hollow blocks, board, and tiles.

Kyo Sa Omar Janducayan gave a lecture on Strategic Planning 101 on the second night and followed by a topic about Leadership by Sa Bom Nim Edgardo Grandeza.

The third day was quite a challenge for the participants. They woke up as early as 5 o'clock in the morning for their freestyle sparring training with the trainers Kyo Sa Carlo Boy Laude and Kyo Sa Mikhail Ponce de Leon.

The participants were given the opportunity to learn two higher ranking lessons. Kyo Sa Angela Grandeza & Kyo Sa Carlo Laude taught Blackbelt lessons to the Redbelters who wished to learn and practice advance lessons.

That afternoon Kyo Sa/ Atty. Servillano Lorenzo III, a first dan Blackbelt, gave a lecture on legal matters. This session reminded the students the importance of the laws concerning self-defense and injuries.

After the discussion, Sa Bom Nim Edgardo Grandeza taught the participants the essentials of Combat and how to defend themselves against the four basic knife attacks.

Then the participants learned basic Arnis techniques with instructor Kyo Sa Mario Palazuelo.


The fourth day marked the commemoration of the students' great job on the 2014 Leadership Training and Seminar. The last day of the seminar was held at Davao City's Gap Farm.




The participants were able to learn the importance of teamwork, and unity through their team building activities that were led by Kyo Sa Adam Basan and Kyo Sa Carlo Boy Laude.



After the fun activities, the participants, club instructors, management committee members, and the speakers were given certificates for their active involvement and contribution to the seminar.

Indeed, the Philippine Moo Duk Kwan Soo Bahk Do Inc. ended the year 2014 with new knowledge and stronger union among the members of the organization.

They will be facing another year as they will be preparing for the 50th Golden Anniversary this November 2015.
